America, change your oil...

I had an epiphany this morning. I was trying to figure a way to explain American Politics and the U.S. Federal Government to the lay person. While pondering these things, I believe I stumbled on to an apt example.

Let’s say that The United States of America is an automobile (a car for those of you with a government education). If America is that car, then the American people are the engine in that car. That engine at time roars with raw power and at other times is at idol. The engine oil in that car would then be the Federal Government, as originally incepted by our Founding Fathers. Over time, the oil with in an engine becomes broken down and filled with contaminates. When the oil becomes dirty and broken down, it’s time to replace the oil and oil filter. Well, our oil is House and Senate, and the Federal Bureaucracy is the contaminants. Enter Rueters / Zogby.

It would seem that according to the latest Rueters / Zogby poll, there might be a mood to “throw the bums out” attitude by the American People. The poll sites a 7% approval of the American people of Congress. This is nothing particularly new. What is new? It would seem that the American people are now in the mood to change their own congressman / congresswoman.

Usually, people are upset with congress; support their own representative in Congress. It would seem this time; there is a desire for “change”. But what caused this change of heart by the American People?

I have a theory. I think that while the American People are working to get kids back to school, pay their bills, pay for an incredible rise in fuel prices, Congress voted themselves into a five (5) week vacation prior to voting on allowing American Companies to dill for domestic (American) sources of crude oil. Personally, I was gratified that the handful of Republicans that stayed issuing speeches on the floor of the House despite the Peloci Politburo cutting the audio, cameras and power.

So, the do nothing Democrats voted a vacation while Americans were paying more than ever for fuel. Even better we were advised to take public transportation and over inflate our tires to participate in hypermiling. I would suggest it’s time to change our oil. It is time to “vote the bums out”. There are Americans right now, ready to change their representatives.

The current conventional wisdom is that the Democrats will sweep the election with the White House, the House and Senate. Zogby, however, hints that there is not an overwhelming support of the Democrats. In fact, there could be a change of power within the Senate, and possibly within the house. The polling also shows an alarming trend for Barack Obama. The more that America learns his core beliefs (what few there are) or the lack of core beliefs, the more this man looks like the latest version of a typical politician. The one thing I know is that America is tired of Politicians. America wants a Statesman.

In short there could be a real change come November, it just won’t be the change that Barack Obama was hoping for.

An interesting thought...

I distinctly remember nearly 7 years ago when we were brutally attacked by terrorists on September 11, 2001. It was pure evil on display. The entire political establishment was rallied for the American public. The Senate gathered on the capitol steps, and gave a grand a capella chorus of God Blessed America. We had at the moment Statesmen & women, we had respect of the Oval Office and the Commander in Chief. We had a government perform, as best it could, at all levels of this emergency, reminiscent of the days that followed Dec. 7, 1942.

Contrast that to the House this Friday past. The Peloci politiburo, in order to silence the republicans on the subject of the current American Energy crisis, turned off the cameras to CSPAN, the microphones, and the lights in the chamber. Basically, while average American's are scrimping and saving for food and fuel, hoping for better times when they can take a vacation (I am one of them) the Peloci politiburo also known as the Democrat run House of Representatives voted a five week paid vacation. This vacation is paid in full by the American tax payer. This is a grotesque display arrogance, despotism and tyranny on a grand colossal scale. The disgusting display should be repaid in full come the first Tuesday in November. Unfortunately, reality is surreal. We have politicians, not statesmen. We have a love of power over a love of country. The word same is non existant in the American politician. If there was ever a time when we need a real man, an elder statesman. We need help, from an Almighty and loving God. We need to ask for this help.
