I was reading the news online, like always when I ran across this little story. http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/article/20081112/NEWS01/811120369. This story's headline reads "Gay rights protester disrupt Sunday service." As I read this story of what took place, I thought of those poor people that wished for a little peace of mind from a loving Almight God, and these petty protesters infringed on the worshipers First Amendment Right to worship. While I am enraged at the actions of these "Gay Activists", more disturbing to me is the idea that those from without an organization has the hubris to believe that they have any influence on church doctrine.
The same can be true of those protesting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple in Santa Monica. While they are protesting a group of people that was less than 2.3% of those that voted Yes on Prop. 8, it could be argued that the Church perhaps is the most recognizable organization that opposes gay marriage. It's hard to protest millions of individuals, so why not protest a very visual organization.
Basically, my First Amendment Right to "peacefully assemble" is infringed upon when groups act as did those in the article. Personally, I am the type that refuses to be a victim. I would be tempted to protect my rights, with force and violence. To those that think they should disrupt my Sunday service I have three words for you... "Bring it on."
