Resolutions

Once again it’s time for the ominous New Year’s resolution. What’s your resolution? Is it the proverbial “to get in better shape” or loose “X” amount of pounds off an arguably obese body? Or perhaps it’s to simply survive yet another bleak economic year? Whatever your resolution is, have you prepared yourself to fulfill your goals?

Make a resolution is the easy part. Taking the small but necessary steps to achieve that goal, well – to be clichéd, it’s easier said than done. A wise man once told me, “Most men dream, a small percentage of those dreamers achieve. Those, whom have achieved, worked hard to achieve.” What are you willing to do to achieve? Are you willing to put down that cake and have a carrot, or (heaven forbid) rice cake (eeewwwww!). Are you willing to take the daily half hour and workout first thing in the morning, or perhaps at the end of a long day? Are you willing to work those extra hours to assure the continued success for your employer’s business? Are you willing to step out on your own to start a business and leave the comfort zone of someone else having the responsibility of earning more income than expenses? Have you though out a daily plan to be executed for purpose of achieving your goal?

If not, like so many of us in years past, we will break that resolution nearly as fast as we came up with it. Most of us don’t plan to fail, we simply fail to plan. And that failure to plan creates a substantially higher probability of failure to achieve our goals. So in the next few days when you have a quiet moment or two, take time to plan those things that can help you in your endeavor to achieve. Help yourself give yourself the very best chance as success possible. For once you achieve, the next time will be much easier because you have done it once before.
